Father-Son Club in the Research Triangle Area
Navigators Club (Ages 6-12, Grades 1-6)
This club is designed to build character and strengthen the bond between fathers and young boys. Boys are introduced to fundamental virtues like perseverance, respect, and high ideals through engaging activities. Fathers gain tools and insights to guide their sons on the path to becoming strong, virtuous men.
Goals for Boys:
- Start thinking about what kind of men they want to be.
- Understand and practice virtues in their daily lives.
- Participate in fun, challenging activities that build character.
- Develop friendships with peers who are also growing in character.
Goals for Fathers:
- Share directed time with their sons in an enjoyable environment.
- Gain insights into teaching virtues effectively.
- Foster meaningful conversations with their sons about deeper topics.
What Happens at Meetings:
- 10-Minute Character Talk: A brief, inspiring talk for boys (with fathers present).
- 1-Hour Activity: Hands-on adventures for boys, like navigation, obstacle courses, or problem-solving.
- Father’s Talk: While boys engage in activities, fathers attend a practical discussion on parenting from a father’s perspective.
- Snack & Social Time: 20 minutes for everyone to connect and unwind together.
Pathfinder Club (Ages 13-17, Grades 7-12)
The Pathfinder Club is tailored for older boys, focusing on moral and personal development. Activities encourage leadership, courage, study skills, career exploration, and decision-making through real-life case studies and hands-on projects.
Goals for Boys:
- Develop leadership skills and moral courage.
- Learn to make thoughtful and good choices, anticipating the fuller consequences of one’s choices
- Explore potential career paths and build useful study habits.
Goals for Fathers:
- Guide sons in navigating the challenges of adolescence.
- Foster deeper connections and conversations about life goals and values.
- Equip sons with tools for success in school, relationships, and future careers.
